Today I will explain to you how to calculate the weight of a packaging bag without using a scale. For example, Factory A received an order for 100,000 packaging bags from an American customer. Before production, it needs to provide the customer with the weight of the entire batch of goods to facilitate calculation of shipping costs. The following is the specific order information:
Bag type: flat bag
Product specifications: length 40cm*width 50cm
Thickness: 0.05mm (single side)
Total quantity: 100000 pieces
At the beginning, we need to know a formula: weight (g) = ρ(g/cm³) * V (cm³) =ρ *L*W*T*2.
The ρcan be obtained through search. The raw materials used by our company for biodegradable bags are PLA+PBAT. Its density is approximately 1.26 g/cm³. So the following is the calculation process:
Weight=1.26 g/cm³*（40*50*0.005*2）
Weight=25.2 (g)
Total weight of cargo=0.0252(kg）*10000=252(kg）
(Ps：”2″ is because the bag is double-sided; the thickness needs to be converted from mm to cm, so it is 0.005.）
If you need to calculate the weight of packaging bags of different materials, the density range value can be queried from Google or Baidu, and the middle value of the range can be used. For example, the density range of PE (LDPE) is 0.92 to 0.96g/cm³, so its density is approximately equal to 0.94g/cm³. If the above packaging bag material is replaced with PE, the calculation is as follows:
Weight=0.94 g/cm³*（40*50*0.005*2）
Weight=18.8 (g)
Total weight of cargo=0.0188(kg）*10000=188(kg）
According to the above calculation, the weight of PE bags is lower than biodegradable bags because its density is smaller. If you want to calculate other materials such as PET, CPE, etc., you can also try it yourself.
